I am conflicted by this. Part of me says, Hell No! and the other part thinks it would help law enforcement do a better job. People in Britain seem to do okay with it....I just don't know.....I hate being conflicted.
It is a conflict. I don't think there's a debate though - the cameras will only get more omnipresent. Which leads to the following questions: How will they be used, and how will people respond to them? Most people I assume won't care, and thus, ever more cameras.
I propose masks.
I read that the average New Yorker is photographed or filmed 7 times before arriving at work in the morning.
It's worse still: There's software becoming available which allows computer programs to ID faces it sees - and not just one face, but hundreds, thousands. So let's say you're a person of interest, your picture is fed into this software, and then any camera connected to that system will be looking specifically for you.
