Thanks!Note to those not yet hip to the FSM: The joke is very simple: Put in the Flying Spaghetti Monster anywhere God or Jesus or Allah or whatever other religious figure would appear normally. Then, consider the ridiculousness of it. That's the joke -- that all Gods are jokes, so why not have one made of spaghetti and meatballs? Makes as much sense as any other God.

The Flying Spaghetti Monster has a more serious usage: in the evolution vs. creationism debates, people often (disingenuously) argue that they aren't advocating any specific divinity, just the idea that something greater created the earth and the things upon it. Fine, opponents counter, but instead of God, let's call that Darwin-trumping entity The Flying Spaghetti Monster.
