Every day you pass hundreds of serfs toiling away in virtual slavery for a system built by the very wealthy for the very wealthy. You probably don't see many of them - why would you? For in fact you're one of them. As am I. As are most folks - near 99% mayhaps. Degrees of serfdom to be sure, with a vast number stuck at the bottom of the barrel. But give enough folks the hope of lording it over some other serfs, and you have a system that can defeat most any collective uprising.
And so we serf on, as we have for most of our modern (last 20000 years or so) history. We do seem to be progressing towards greater equality world wide, but there's still a long way to go, and the very rich and very powerful will fight us at every step. And so we too must always keep fighting.
