Lymonology

An apt illustration of the role color plays in taste. Consider even further if the yellow bottles on left contained lime juice, and the green bottles on the right contained lemon juice. I predict you would taste a limey lemon and a lemony lime in tasting each, even if they were pure samples of lime/lemon juice respectively. You see, your mind is as influential in taste as is your tongue. Color plays a huge role in how we perceive taste, as does smell obviously, but even too sound - the crisp snap of a chip adds to its flavor. To go further, since all external sensation is registered and perceived in the brain, than "flavor" only exists in the mind, and as with many other things, it is only Life that gives it reality. For, what would there be to taste if there were none to eat? Flavor would not exist, just as color does not exist without eyes to see light, and sound only exists with the hearer. Quantum reality, yo: Only by measuring does anything have reality.

 Also too, I wonder if this was the Stockboy's error, or someone at Concord Foods "Farm"?

To end - you should try and view mistakes through this prism: It is only through "imperfection" that anything happens in this world. If everything were perfect, than everything would be in balance, and nothing would happen. It's the imbalance that creates change, and change is the definition of time, and time is the river in which Life swims.

So don't sweat it, anonymous Concord Foods employee!

Legotivity

Perhaps our reality is truly like this - up is up is down is down is up and so on, forever - and it is only our brains which give it the apparent order we call the "real world". Our senses - eye, ear, etc - are the only way we perceive anything. All these senses provide information to the brain, which decodes and translates into action. It's just bits and boops and blops and is us and only us - humans - which assign the green leaves and sometimes seas, blue skies or pink sunrise, cool mist upon the wind. Perspective is defined by the perceiver - and it is only life that perceives. And all life is different.

And so, Escher. This Legofied lithograph is a marvel. It's got all kinds of science baked into it. Wiki it up.

Jedi Mind Tricks

You didn't see the dog in the picture until the text pointed it out, right? And why would you?

This clearly illustrates the trick of distraction, which magicians use to great affect throughout their acts - getting you to look at one thing, and therefore not looking at something else. This principle applies to all the senses - any thing can be hidden by using distraction to cause the sense to direct attention elsewhere. Thought itself could be considered a sense in this manner, as redirecting thoughts by deploying other thoughts can be remarkably effective in guiding the perceptions of others.

Also, I don't think this lady would do well in the International Best Ass competition, as I get the sense from looking at past winners there's a certain aesthetic that is in, and many others that are out. And that's just not right, for beautiful asses come in many different shapes!

There is no Truth but what you make

Are you sure it's not? Do you yourself have a single iota of proof otherwise? No! You don't, and so who's to say it's not true? Oh sure, some "scientists" from LIBERAL UNIVERSITIES who hate FREEDOM and THE BIBLE. But they have a LIBERAL AGENDA and who can trust them? Not me, not the folks I know. So turtles it is, all the way down.

And this is true about most things - all things? You, a sentient human being, must agree to accept something as true. How you go about doing that is up to you, up to your close contacts, your culture, your age, your era, etc. Everything's a factor. For example, you personally have no experience of the Earth rotating. For everything you can tell with your senses, the sun and moon and stars above rotate around us. How could this not be? And thus to believe this is not so, that we do in fact rotate around the sun, you must ignore your own common sense and believe someone else. Belief.

We hear what we want to hear and see things through a prism named us. But this is all sophistry, is it not? Solipsism, the natural state of man. For perhaps that's true - nothing exists without us and our opinions.

We're left grasping in the dark, always. Perhaps we come closer to something like a real Truth, but who could ever be sure - this reality is vast beyond our comprehension. We stumble on, trying this and that, coming up with better tools for survival - and survival is the name of the game. Science is one of the greatest tools for our survival (and destruction), for ultimately it is an entire way of thinking - hypothesis, testing and experiment, re-hypothesize, test again, and keep on refining, asking why. Through this process, we evolve. But there's no end, and we must always be aware of the forces of ignorance.

Next time you hear the phrase "The God Particle", think of this. For there is no such particle.

Tourists and Museums

Museums would be so much better with far fewer tourists, yes? Except yourself, of course. Perhaps this is also true about everything else.

I think Plato had it right with the whole "shadow in the cave" analogy. We are bound by our senses as biological animals - this would be the cave - and all we can perceive is what our senses allow us to - in this case, the shadow thrown against the cave wall. We know there's more out there that we don't know about - for instance, that regular matter and energy only makes up 4% of our Universe. 4%! That's nothing, and yet here we sit, no doubt thinking we have it all figured out.
