Joyce

Joyce.

Funny album covers is a particularly target rich subject, so I shan't overdwell on the matter, but I love this one specifically for the perfect distallation of a late 70's/early 80's fashion. The perm. Especially the perm. The big glasses, big earrings, terrible clothes and colors, and just utter lack of taste. It's marvelous. What the hell were people thinking?

Holy Sounds

Pope Urban gives the latest release from Christian Crusaders 9 out of 10 crosses, calling it "Like a musical tour of the Holy Lands" and "Better than an Indulgence".

Music to Soothe

It's not widely known, but bears are captivated by the harp. If they hear one, they stop whatever it is they are doing and listen. Some bears are known to play the harp, as evidenced above.

Too bad it's impractical to bring a large harp with you on hikes in grizzly country - it's the perfect bear defense.

Same diva

Just another group of young people making music together. Beautiful music.

Whitest Girl

Here she is, as voted by the Internets.

Ironically from the Rebecca Black classic and timeless hit, "Friday".  If you've never heard it, spare yourself the pain and never do so.

First Bub

What will be said of First Bub Billy C? First Bub of raising heck, gettin' randy, and scratchy, and otherwise dudey, yah? It's historic.
I mean, c'mon! Who could pander more?!

Even Finer Things

Art. Cat paintings by a schizophrenic.
Music. The cat organ makes dubstep sound tame.
Friends. Best friends forever.

Here's the comic they want you to read. Then. Not later, mind you.

Ever Smaller

Check out 80's guy with his rad collection of electronics. Believe me cuz I was there, and all that stuff was rad, back in the day. Yo! But all of that and far more (the Internet) can now be found on a pretty little thin slab of black glass.
Like everyone here has, except that dude. The world in our palms, like some Star Trekkian perversion.
F that S says Queen Nadia, beatbox of the desert. Gonna kick it old school. Cut this rug!
DL's down wit it.

Sing a Happy Song

You know, if we all had a song in our heart, the world would be a better place - this world is made up from all our songs, and if we each decided, "Hey! There's enough BS and hate in the world, why don't I instead focus on love and happiness?" Then whammo! There would be love and happiness across the entire world. Ravens and bunnies would snuggle together and listen to folk songs by the sea.

What a world it would be. And it's true - we could have world peace this very moment if we all collectively decided we wanted it.

But we don't, apparently. And so ravens eat bunnies and man oppresses man. Bummer!

For your pleasure

Let two of the Friends guide you through the exciting new features of the revolutionary Windows 95! Like "right-clicking"! Seriously, though, life lesson: When I got switched to Win95 from Win3.1 I was pissed - I had Win3.1 all figured out, and this new fangled Windows was pointless and stupid! Lo, after getting used to it, it was of course far superior to Win 3.1 and so Redshirt learned a lesson: Don't fear change!

Sadly, I could not find any music to install Win95 by - and it was a chore, since it was disk based. That is - "INSERT DISK 12 of 19". Lot's o' tedium. So, while you're inserting disks, check out the fetching songs of Ms. Janet Greene!
Some really catchy beats that are fun to dance to!

Music to

I have no idea what such music might sound like, and now I don't want to know. I'll fancy a world of the Night Pastor and his Seven Friends cooing and making... bread noises? Such strange imaginings. And to lure? Is the Good Pastor capturing these pigeons? For what nefarious and/or sonorous purpose, one wonders?

Speaking of nefarious,
It's a real thing, apparently. Look!
Surely, no internet wag went to the trouble of printing a CD label? More proof:
You start the CD the same moment the Windows 98 setup screen loads. Fucking mind blowing!

In the Shadow of Nam

Vietnam put a real dent in the American War Machine, and this, coupled with Civil Rights, was the crisis of the 60's/70's, which translated into the snap back of the Wingnuts, with St. Ronnie leading the charge.
Starting with the LIBERATION of Grenada, bringing FREEDOM to this important nation. Baby war steps, really. Vietnam took the piss out of US, then throw in the OPEC embargo and the Iranian hostage situation, and America was ready for some Olde Tyme Isolationism. But St. Ronnie made sure that didn't happen with an unprecedented peace time military build up. Leading to
The LIBERATION of Panama, bringing FREEDOM to this important nation. A bigger engagement than Grenada, and a near flawless victory. Big boy steps! So, why the hell not?
The LIBERATION of Kuwait, bringing FREEDOM to this important nation. America got the neighborhood all together and everyone took care of that mean old So Damn Insane (Saddam Hussein). Another near flawless victory, and this one on a yet much bigger scale still. Looks like Vietnam Syndrome is cured! But still, like a teenager, tentative forays into the adult world
Serbia Bosnia Kosovo Yugoslavia and all that - Jeebers! What a confusing assortment of insignificant nations LIBERATED by the USA, as usual. LIBERATOR of the world, don't you know. W will prove it to you, for you see, we're cured of Vietnam Syndrome! War on!
Iraq 2 was not near as fun as Iraq 1, for most. A few had a grand old time, however. The Generals and the Money Men. Here's David Patraeus, stuck in a metaphorical sand trap, in no way signifying W.'s war.
Oh yeah Afghanistan too, I almost forget. Did we all not? I mean, everyone was for this war, but then Iraq happened and everyone was all about that and we all forgot about poor old Afghanistan. And it's true - poor, old, Afghanistan, once an actual nation, now ground to dust. And since Obama, of course, all our soldiers have turned gay
Thanks, Obama. And we're pulling out, again. EGADS! Come end of 2013 America will not be engaged in any wars! What ever shall we do?!

This Machine

With the Industrial Revolution came an entirely new level to the crushing burden workers would bear for the sake of the Owners. Early factories were death pits of torture and suffering, far worse than toiling in the fields previous generations of serfs and slaves endured. And yet, people organized, and with numbers came strength:
Indeed, strength enough to make even Republicans sane. But those days are gone, replaced with greedy morans hell bent on destroying this country and most of its people for a few quick bucks - for them. A lot and lot of bucks for a very small percentage. Let's call them the 1%
You can accept this or deny it, but that matters little. What does matter is whether you are aiding the effort to crush human rights, decent pay, health care, etc, or are fighting it. If fighting, then you must do two things ASAP. Let's cover the first here:
Speak up!
Make your voice heard!
Do whatever it takes to communicate what you think is right and wrong, using whatever medium you can. It matters, in large numbers and by one single person. For example, there are many Americans still vaguely convinced the Republican Party is similar to the party that put out that ad above in 1956. The entire MSM lives this general delusion. We must correct this dangerous misunderstanding.

Bill Clinton Fan-o-Gram

I kinda bad mouthed Bill Clinton in the last post. I don't take it back, and there's more, but I also wanted to state for the record how much I like Bill Clinton as President and as former President, and as a person. For the following reasons:

1. He's self made - Daddy long gone, raised by his not rich Mom and Grandparents. Like Barack Obama, I'd add.
2. He's motivated and intelligent, personable and funny.
3. He's a lover. Check out this incredible shot of Bill and a young, hot Hill. What a couple - their relationship goes back all the way.
4. He's got great hair.
5. He worked his way to the top.
6. He knows history.
7. He's aged well.
Insert your own love (and internet macro) for William Jefferson Clinton if you would, or will. Some - plenty - won't. To them I say, c'mon! Dude's awesome, even if you don't agree with his policies. You're telling me you wouldn't want to have a beer with Bill Clinton?

LIAR! Or teetotaler.  Either way, pshaw!

2 Assads and a Queen

So there's some stuff going on in Syria. Did you know? Do you care? Most Americans don't, I figure, unless it's for temporary political purposes. The Empire only cares for the Empire, at this point. Always a turning point, for the worst, in the history of Empires.

Those are the Assad boys at bottom. Bassel, the eldest and as such the heir apparent, is long dead, in a "car crash" some time ago. So Bashar's been in large and in charge since Dad died in the year.... 2000. Things went well for a while, even surviving the Empire's invasion of neighboring Iraq. But it's going down the shitter now, and I think the Assad's reign over Syria is near an end. I don't think what replaces it will be better at all, but that's the Middle East for you!

Also too, that of course is Freddie Mercury at top. Born Farrokh Bulsara, Freddie was perhaps the greatest rock n' roll showmen of all time, leader of one of the best rock bands of all time, Queen. Also gay - in fact, I'd say he looks to be the archetypal gay man, true or not. So now I have to ask what, if any, of the "gay look" descended from Freddie Mercury, and thus from his basic Arabness. Though he was in fact a Parsi and had nothing to do with Arabs or Islam. But these are trifling details! He looks Arab enough, compared to the Bassads, right? I have no idea where this photo comes from by the by. Trying to understand it. It's the sunglasses, mustache, and short dark hair. Pretty damn gay, Bashar!

Also as well - I recently read the best interview about Queen I've ever encountered, in Astronomy magazine, of all places. It was about Brian May - who's incredible. He got his PhD in Astrophysics and he completed it after Queen ended. He also built his own guitar (Red Special) with his Dad when he was 15 and has played it ever since. Awesome bloke. His PhD was about zodiacal dust, which sounds like an album name, but is also an awesome subject. Check it all out.

So there you have it. Whatever "it" is. Let me finish by saying I read Astronomy magazine regularly - I'm a subscriber! - but never Rolling Stone, even though somehow I've been getting issues sent to me for 3 years now, even though I never signed up for it nor have been billed or paid a bill. I look at the covers and go, "meh". I'm old enough now I no longer care what the young people think is interesting. So get off ah my cloud!

Juggalosity

A Juggalo with a Pop Tart. Some kind of exotic Pop Tart by the looks of it. Why? Cuz of the Internet. When or where else would such pointless folly even been conceivable? Odd times we dwell within, and they're only gonna get weirder.
A Juggalo wedding, how nice. Every one in this picture's collective dream, I'm sure. Mother there is quite proud, as is Dad - if he's actually awake. Might be passed out on his feet. Such are the traditional festivities at a Juggalo wedding - gettin' wasted!
To be fair, these young Juggalo's may be high on nothing but life: which consists of the music of a band called Insane Clown Posse - or ICP as they're known on the streets - and drinking a weird soda only available in the Detroit area named Faygo. Strange traditions, but then Juggalos revel in the strange. From what I can gather from my cursory search of the internets, some Juggalos keep their face paint on at all times. Strange.

Harmless, you might think - just kids wearing makeup and partying with music. But these Juggalos are also known for their destructive ways, wrecking everywhere they go, everything they touch, like some kind of clown whirlwind. And destruction of other people's property is not cool, man.
A useless sign, since if you are a Juggalo you'll ignore it, and perhaps act even more Juggalo-ey. Or if you're not a Juggalo you'll just go "wha?". Either way, ineffective, if well intentioned. Juggalo's gotta Juggalo.
