CONFORM CONSUME OBEY

From the 1988 classic "They Live". Great movie, you should totally stay in and snuggle up on the couch and watch it.  Or better yet
TV in bed is the best. Why ever get out of bed, really? Oh yes, work.
But hey at least the shopping is good downtown.
Don't let anyone tell you otherwise: Selling out is the best!

Red Shirt Is

Green where there was only brown before, forever. It's magical. For comparison:
The harsh light of construction. Does it ever look good? Better always to see the final product than the steps along the way. If consumer you be, rather than producer. Me?
I love the nitty gritty in the production and am often bored with the results. To my detriment!

Taasty Braains

Mmm, brains. So sweet and tasty. For a zombie, of course, but how 'bout for you? Ever eat brain? Some folks have, all fancy like no doubt, and in the past (way back) most folk did, I reckon - would you pass up any food in 26,000 BCE?

This is a thing, by the by - brain cupcakes. Ask the Great GIS, you'll see. And I marvel at it, as I do all things ridiculous and over the top and just plain wacky, for it is in our creative frivolity when we are most human, aye, when in fact we define humanity par excellence. For it is in luxury, splendor, absurdity that humanity is defined apart from all other life, cuz seriously, what other form of life could even conceive of brain cupcakes?

So I see it too with vegetarianism, also by the way. It's a luxury, a decadence for a scavenger species. We are so well off as a species that I, vegetarian, can forsake biology and evolution and forge a new path, one arguably more healthy and beneficial to the Earth as a whole, but still, a luxury. For when that asteroid hits and sends our planet into decades of darkness, I would not refuse a bite of jerky or hard tack, or even fresh brain. Calories would be all that matters, then. Now? Choice.

And it is in the choosing we are human - in the luxury of choice.

Champagne Toasts

Here's to you, Captain Kirk. Or Evil Kirk, more likely - hey: Who's evil doppelganger wouldn't be cooler than the original? By definition, methinks. So don't take it personally.

Seriously, if anyone you know or meet says they love Voyager, run. Do it fast, do it subtly, do it somewhere inbetween, but just do it. It's an awful show, and highlights the Fall of Trek in obvious fashion - concurrently with the decline of American culture. Co-incidence? Probably not.
Poconos resort premier room. Now defunct and derelict, of course. Another concurrent process with the demise of America.

Also, have I ever told you how much I LOVE hyperbole?

Memories for after the Fall

Pondering this... toy?.. for some time, it occurred to me how spectacularly luxurious it is  - and thusly, many, most of the things we have.

Imagine, if you will, that you've been in jail for the past thirty years. An item like this would be.... beyond conception? How would you even relate to it? It speaks to a level of luxury far, far beyond the baseline of survival, or even comfort. What do you do with this... toy?

Imagine, again, that it's sometime in the future, and you are living in some post-apocalyptic Zombie wasteland; thinking back to a time, to an age, that allowed such items to be built and people worked to pay for them... incredible!

That said, it's somewhat cool in an abstract sense - the detail and attention, etc. Not a recommendation though!

Oh yeah, Lost: Desmond is back on the Island, in the ground. Once again, this show is simply incredible for the amount of attention paid to the storyline, and working that into new stories. It seems fair to say that what we'll see as Season 6 ends are riffs on previous seasons. With some big twists too, of course.
