An even newer world

Consider it, Wingnuts. Hillary gets elected in 2016, and wins re-election in 2020. That would represent 16 years in a row of Democratic rule, and if we can't crush the Repukes in that timeframe, than shame on us. Till then, some Hill shots:
Obama shot, actually. Sorry, Hills. Just want all them PUMA's to remember that Barack is our President.
Hillary and Barry, re-making world diplomacy. Notice how calmer the world seems lately, compared to 2000-2008?

Never give up!

It's not that the Republican "brain trust" hasn't been trying to create the next Reagan. W. was a real serious attempt - witness the phony ranch in Crawford - but alas!
The incompetence was too great for even the Media to spin as a success, and apart from the 27%, Bush is widely seen as a tremendous failure. But you don't quit the game! You keep playing!
Palin is a more organic (that is, from the Teabag bottom up rather than from the elites on high) version of the same phenomena, but even somehow more incompetent, and thankfully we still reside in a reality where competence counts for something.
A pic from the governor's meeting with then President elect Obama. Oh, how she must have burned!

Again, the horizon seems free of anything approaching charismatic base competence in the Republican future, in terms of both leadership and ideas. This is all they have left:
Mockery and bad memes. And this is their version of a LOL meme now - posing with an empty wine glass. Ha!
Gay Republicans - is there anything funnier?

Dots assembled

Here's a map from the 1860's showing the slave population of the south - the darker areas have more slaves. And now:
2008 Presidential election results. Red equals Republican, Blue, Democrat. Just a co-incidence, I'm sure.
Explains a good deal, when you consider the politics of America. This, however?
A map of NFL fans based on Google searches. Witness Steeler Nation! Also, sadly, Cowboys. Smallest real estate - NY Jets.

Memories of Berlin

Berlin, July 2008. Good times - remember? Hope was what you felt then - for Change! Now you probably feel some variant of weary. But fret not! Change is on the way.
With our help, Barack Obama will be re-elected next week, and America will have 4 more years to try and recover from the Republican poisoning. We'll need a better Congress though, so get out and vote!
Get excited! It's important work we do here - literally, saving the world. The stakes are that high. Good versus evil stuff. Oh yeah, and babes. Liberals have the better babes. And these days for sure, crowds.
An estimated 240,000 Berliners came out to see then Senator Barack Obama speak. Hundreds of thousands more in cities across Europe. He also went to Iraq and Afghanistan. Compare that to Mitt Romney's trip to Europe this past Summer, which was a hilarious tour de farce, lurching from one mistake to another. I don't recall any crowds, either. Private fundraisers ($$$) only. It's a joke that there's any kind of competition between these two candidates. But that's the reality when a solid 40% of Americans would vote for a rock as long as it had an (R) next to it's name. Propaganda's a hell of a thing.

Memories of Pumas Past

Remember Hillary V. Barack? Good times. Nerve wracking - I've never followed politics that intently before. Twas my sport and obsession. Just for the record, I still love President Obama, and think he's doing a fantastic job. Don't agree with every decision that has happened, but I trust him, completely, so I don't worry about it. That may sound naive, but I've been SO impressed by everything I know about Barack Hussein Obama that I simply have faith in his leadership abilities, and don't see the point nor feel the need to second guess him. I'd place any blame far elsewhere: Blue Dogs, the Senate, the House, the American people (27% of them on average), and of course, the true villain of the times, the Repuglican Party. Feel to mock me as some brainwashed Obot. I don't care - I know I'm right.

Anyways, I wonder if this lady - if still alive - is fervently anti-Obama these days. Many Pumas morphed into this weird coalition of Tea Bag Lites, Liberal version. I don't care to understand, really, since the only reason she could be anti-Obama is because of race, and that's boring. Hateful and sadly so predictable. Let's move on.

Did you know more women than men smoke in the US of A? Also, that more women go to college than men these days? By a sizable percentage. I'm all for it, since I hope I live long enough to see the day when women take their rightful place as leaders of all human societies - as it should be. Men cannot be trusted, and should only serve as manual labor or studs on the farm - the typical role in most mammal societies. I mean, look at the evidence! Men are the perpetrators of what, 98% of all the war and destruction and crime rained down upon our species, for its entire existence? The verdict is easy: GUILTY!

You ARE good enough, Stuart

Congrats, Al Franken! You survived a round with the RNC legal spin machine. You are good enough, gosh darn it!

Also, Repugnuts? Suck it.

Which leads me to ponder... am I becoming the very monster I once aimed to fight? For instance, there is a well known theory in the intertubeweb about Republican strategy, which goes a little something like this: If it pisses off liberals, it's a good move.

That's it -- you can actually explain much of the Repuglican moves of the last 10 years by that theory.

But am I simply becoming the opposite?

Hmm. Ok, I've thought about it. No, I'm not. So suck it, Repubtards.

Ah, Memories

Ah, Election 08. What a great time we had. My loyal readers will no doubt recall this fine pic, which was accidentally released before the second debate. Which McCain lost, of course. But this ridiculous impulse to "create your own reality" is very much with us still today, in the form of the ever more absurd Repuglican Party.

1-20-09

I've been seeing this date in bumper sticker form since, oh, about 11/5/04; It always seemed so far away, and mythical, frankly. Like a fairy tale that's nice to recite, but no one actually believes it's true.

But, now, there can be no doubt: It's true.

The Scourge of the Bush Administration is gone! Sing freedom and hallelujah! We survived, the world survived, barely.

Good luck, President Obama -- you're gonna need it!

YUB NUB!

POTUS

There's a part of me that still doesn't believe it's real. But c'mon! The Electoral College is done, the Bushies seem to be on their way out, and here we have the first official photo of Barack Hussein Obama, the 44th President of the United States of America.

Remarkable. Good job America!

Illinois NAZI's for Obama

Semi-seriously! Here's a quote from Rocky Suhayda, leader of the American NAZI party:

White people are faced with either a negro or a total nutter who happens to have a pale face. Personally I’d prefer the negro. National Socialists are not mindless haters. Here, I see a white man, who is almost dead, who declares he wants to fight endless wars around the globe to make the world safe for Judeo-capitalist exploitation, who supports the invasion of America by illegals–basically a continuation of the last eight years of Emperor Bush. Then, we have a black man, who loves his own kind, belongs to a Black-Nationalist religion, is married to a black women–when usually negroes who have ‘made it’ immediately land a white spouse as a kind of prize–that’s the kind of negro that I can respect. Any time that a prominent person embraces their racial heritage in a positive manner, it’s good for all racially minded folks. Besides, America cares nothing for the interests of the white American worker, while having a love affair with just about every non-white on planet Earth. It’d be poetic justice to have a non-white as titular chief over this decaying modern Sodom and Gomorrah.

Predictions

When Obama is President....

-- Fox news will morph into a righteous critic of the government, intent on exposing "corruption" and "abuses of power".

-- The rest of the MSM will have far more interest in covering these very same stories.

-- REZKO will become unto WHITEWATER - a running "scandal (really, tell me: What was Whitewater about)" that Repugs demand be investigated by a Special Prosecutor; why? For Justice? Hell no! They will do everything and anything they can to obstruct Obama

-- Remember the phrase "Jack Booted Thugs"? Haven't heard that since about 1/1/01, I reckon. Expect to hear it again.

More as the Muse strikes....

Ground Game

Polls are looking great, Obama's campaign is looking great, but what really, really is going to drive home this victory is the respective Ground Games, or Get Out the Vote Effforts (GOTV).

If you haven't already found THE new site of 2008, go here and read the full, wonderful story.

To wit: The Bush campaign of 2004 defined GOTV efforts in recent American elections -- it's fair to say the Bush GOTV efforts won him the 2004 election.

This year, however, it's a completely different story. Not only has McCain never had a good ground game, even though he had several more months to set one up, but in these final days of the contest, he's shifting funds from GOTV efforts towards more commercials (no doubt dirty, hypocritical, and slanderous). This is a fundamental sign that things are not well in McCainland.

On the flip side, Obama's ground game makes Bush's 2004 efforts look like semi-pro wrestling; captilizing on the long primary, Obama supporters are everywhere, legion, all highly motivated to win this for not only Barack, but the America we all love (and not the America we've been turned into).

If you can do anything in these last few days to help out, it's easy to start. Go to barackobama.com and find the state your interested in. There will be lots of groups and efforts to choose from.

I'll be driving folks to the polls. If one person votes for Obama who would not have otherwise, it will all be worth it.

As Kos has been saying: "Leave it all on the road". Truly, now is the moment to crush the Neocons and end their influence in our country.

New Game cont.

Can you feel everything changing? Cuz it is.

From the "Onion Predicts the Future" File

New Game

We're entering our big shift! Perceptions, attitudes, community, environment, race, wealth, everything about Western Society is now poised to shift ever so slightly to the left, but this slight shift will have huge - and positive - implications for America and the rest of the World.

Witness! The dreaded "Lawn Jockey" besides the "Letter Carriers for Obama" sign.

That sums up nicely the change to come...

ALL UR BASE ARE BELONG TO US

Seriously. Political Ads in video games?

On the one hand, I'm skeptical this will generate many votes in relation to the dollars spent;

On the other, every vote matters, and this ad campaign (which is underway with several on-line video games) shows in a visceral way the breadth and depth of the Obama campaign, and the dollars they have at their disposal.

Make no mistake: The Obama campaign is the best run campaign of my lifetime, and probably yours as well. While they've made a couple of mistakes I could identify (the Obama Seal), these are minor compared to the breathtaking competence and... shall I say, gameplay, of Team Obama. They beat the Clinton machine in large part because they understood the game better (primaries, caucusus, momentum, etc). The same is happening in the General.

Obama will be President. And he will have a legion of gamers ready to do battle in cyberspace.

Still Nervous?

I dither over the "Booty Call" joke or a generic Gollum "Me wants the precious!" riff.

You choose!

Really Big Show

I'd like to see a poll of the NBA to see if this guy's T-Shirt is correct.

More from Admiral Ackbar

Hello Faithful Readers, you vast multitudes, you teeming swarms...

I know you all must be disappointed with my recent stretch of absences -- sorry. Family matters have taken over my life, and until they are resolved, I won't have much time for this site of Laments.

But, I know you all come here for all news involving Admiral Ackbar and his various dispensations of wisdom. So, here you are.
