In their minds, warped and twisted by at least three decades of propaganda, this is Barack Hussein Obama. The Antichrist. A Muslim. A Kenyan. A Homosexual. A Ni-CLANG. They can't stand him. Who's they?

Here's a Freeper - a member of Free Republic. Old. White. Racist. Angry. Armed. This man did not make the work of "art" above, but he no doubt agrees with it. And this.

Check this logic: The Republicans force the Government to shut down. When unpaid but still working Park Rangers try and close National Parks and other resources, they (via Fox) got outraged, and some Congressional crazies staged a sit in with some geezers at the WW2 memorial.

Just flying the Swastika cuz Barack Hussein Obama is such a NAZI. First (and implied Second) Ammendment! Another Freeper.

They still love Sarah - and they know Liberals just make fun of her because they're scared of her. The "Appeal to Heaven" flag is another Revolutionary flag that the Tea Baggers are appropriating. You can guess the meaning - OBAMA BAD!!! DEMOCRATS BAD!!! LIBERALS BAD!!!

Health insurance for the poor is clearly just like 1939 Germany. Well said, Freedom Fighter.

The Enemy Within*

This is him. The enemy of all human progress - known today as a "Teabagger", but they go by many names. One of them is Redneck (not exclusive, however). Seems harmless enough, right?

 What's not to love?


Oh yeah: The "Redneck"  - defined as any American who would reject progress and science in the name of some mythical "olden times" when Blacks and Jews knew their places - and Jesus be damned if a woman should have a vote.

They're the ultimate regressives, and they have been a near constant force in American history. Dennis G. over at Balloon Juice has made many, many excellent posts on this subject (Here's the latest), and I highly recommend you read his thoughts on the subject.

To wit: Most of the problems in pre-civil war America resulted from the stress of slavery existing within a democratic system. Viewed from this perspective, you can see most major historical points prior to 1860 as one side demanding absolute toleration of their viewpoints (slavery), with the other side compromising, time and time again. See: The Missouri Compromise as a prime example.

The Civil War is obvious enough, but then after, you have an armed insurrection in the South lasting generations (The KKK), and the enactment of the Jim Crowe system. The Feds left them alone (to all our detriment) from simple exhaustion (a tactic!) until the Civil Rights movements of the 1960's. At the conclusion of which, these Regressives, these Deniers, switched en masse from the Democratic Party, to the Republican Party, and took it over.

So, the irony is the very party that freed the slaves and caused the South to secede in the first place is now wholly captured by the very same forces of intolerance, violence, and aggressive ignorance. And we are still compromising with them, still accommodating their endless grievances, whines, complaints, etc.


I'm ready for "Civil War 2 - The Finishing" at this point. I hope enough Americans can wake up to this truth before we are once again at their mercy (the Bush Admin was a highpoint in this Neo-confederate movement). I doubt it, though, for an unholy alliance of Oligarchs backs these forces, and they will do everything in their power to convince enough people that this ignorance, this evil, is what it actually means to be an American.


They're wrong. But somewhere, sometime, someone's going to have to stand up and defend these points of view. It's fundamental issue the "tolerant' have to address: How to deal with the viciously intolerant? Because in an open, pluralistic, tolerant society, the viciously intolerant are a poison, and can kill the entire body.

We have met the enemy, and he's a Redneck Moran

This fine gentleman was photographed at Glenn Beck's "Restoring Honor" rally this past weekend - seems like the kinda guy who's all about honor, right? And restoring it!

Restoring it from... what? This implies honor was somehow taken away. I wonder how that happened? Could it have been by the Administration that launched a pre-emptive invasion based on lies? Nahhhh... we know who.

The black guy, who's ALSO a Democrat. Three strikes right there.

But look at this Redneck Moran above and glory in the ignorance - first, the Confederate Battle Flag clothes. Very honorable - nothing says honor like proclaiming your love for a group that seceded from the country in order to fight for a system based on human slavery.

What's more despicable there? The fact that we're told by Newscorp that essentially only Southern Republicans can be Patriotic, yet these are the same people who wholeheartedly back the Confederacy, who by very definition were all traitors?

That these same people don't respect Democracy - yes, Obama being black is a big part of their anger, but truthfully, they did much of this same shit to Clinton. Point being, they want a One party system, and it ain't a Democrat to be the One. 

They proclaim their support for the Constitution, but clearly have no idea what it means.

On and on.

Again, the saddest part of this scary Hagar look-a-like is this: Consider this guy's life. He's probably poor/working class, heavily in debt, poorly educated, etc. Yet, his entire life he's been told that while he might have it bad, he's better than a Nigger - so he'll fight against anything smacking of help for black folks. Ironically, the same efforts could help himself, but, the saying "cut off your nose to spite your face" applies here.

So, the old divide and conquer - convince this guy that ANY help for the poor/working class is really SOCIALISM! COMMUNISM! ISLAM! Or, it's really about helping young black males get food stamps so they never have to work..... and they'll take up their Corporate Master's banner, and fight against everything that could make their lives better, all so the Fat Cats can get fatter.

It'd be hilarious if not so tragically sad. And perhaps the real tears are soon to flow, if the Repuglicans get any whiff of subpoena power after the 2010 midterm elections - how do you think they'll handle that?
