Iz teh Prezident LOL

Is true. Not sure what kind of vote movement the Prez got through such an act, but it can't hurt. Not like the Repukes could make anything of it, being retarded.

OG (pre-old-school)

Word. L'il gangsta's keepin' it real. And extra fresh.

But seriously: Hilarious. And sad - this boy's life is no doubt already ruined, destined for frequent run ins with the law and perhaps an untimely death. And for why? The sins of his parents.

Also too: Memes repeating at the cultural level. The gangsta look is relatively new in China, but I bet it's extremely popular among certain groups. Imported via evil American media, no doubt.

Think of the power of the meme - someone/people in America invents gangsta culture, based on mafia movies. This invention in turn inspires people in far away lands to emulate that culture, thereby producing behaviors that would never occur organically. The meme jumps from mind to mind and can re-write everything if the winds are right.

Concern Troll is Concerned

I've said it before, I'll say it plenty of times in the days to come: I loves the interweb! So many fascinating phenomena. Fer instance, The Troll - a person who exists on the internet to get some kind of rise out of a specific audience.

I only came to realize what a troll was via the interent, but the truth is that Trolls have always existed. It's just much, much harder to pull off that BS in person than anonymously via the intertubes. Example: Socrates is one of the greatest trolls in history.

There are many forms of trolls, and many techniques, but they usually all can be dealt with in one of two ways successfully: Ignore them, or mock them relentlessly. That's it. Any attempt to actually discuss, persuade, or even compel a troll will almost always meet with failure, and it is far, far, far more likely you are simply playing their game -- giving them what they want - by trying. So my very considered and wise advice is: Don't feed the trolls!

The Concern Troll is a type, a very interesting type in our new media age. The Concern Troll has actually gone mainstream and there are many occupying global media positions. Example: Almost anything you read from Karl Rove these days are examples of a Concern Troll in action. He'll write some Op-Ed for the WSJ warning the Democrats not to get caught up in this healthcare debate lest they lose congressional seats in 2010 - HEAVEN FORFEND! You know Karl would hate to see that, right?

Thus, a Concern Troll: A troll who's main technique is to employ insincere concern for the group he's actually targeting.

Persia

What's going on in Iran right now is a big deal -- it might turn out to be a historically big deal. My thoughts are with the brave protestors who are fighting for their beliefs. I just hope the death toll does not go too high.

On a related note, if I had only watched CNN or MSNBC this weekend, or even read the Washington Post, I would have little idea what was going on in Iran. The difference in coverage between the MSM and some of the more active blogs (Huff, Sully, Balloon Juice) is stunning. So stunning I have to check myself and see if I am missing something, the gap is so large.

Another note: Watch the Neocons rally around Ahmadinejad. It started this weekend on the blog, but expect Faux News to pick up the ball and run. Nuts of a feather flock together and all. And also remember: The Neocons care nothing for the US or anything in this world, other than their own power and wealth.

Media Bias?!

The McCain camp has been whining non-stop about how the media is in love with Obama, and thus are biased, and thus are to blame for Johhny's poor performance so far.

Which is an absolute joke, of course, but hey! It's all in good fun.

McSame has been drinking deep from the Rove cup of late, since the Rove partisans came on board at the end of June.

And with their arrival, come the negative ads, misleading and false, but! McSame doesn't have enough money. What to do, what to do...

From today's NY Times:
WASHINGTON — The number of times Senator John McCain’s new advertisement attacking Senator Barack Obama for canceling a visit with wounded troops in Germany last week has been shown fully or partly on local, national and cable newscasts: well into the hundreds.

The number of times that spot actually, truly ran as a paid commercial: roughly a dozen.

Funny stuff. On Morning Joe today, in the brief 15 minutes I watched, they played the latest RNC "Ad" three times -- all in the name of covering the news, of course.

Hilarious.

Make no mistake: There is a massive double standard here. Imagine if Obama mixed up Sunni and Shia, repeatedly, or referred to non-existing countries, or got critical geography wrong -- gosh, the media might question his foreign policy qualifications, dontchya think? But not McSame's -- cuz it's obvious he's got experience. He was a POW for crying out loud!

Not only the Media, but the entire apparatus of Government will be used against Obama in the upcoming election: Witness the Pentagon and State Department messing with Obama's overseas trip, and with the Pentagon supplying material directly for a McSame negative ad. Which is illegal, of course -- but what does the Law matter to the Republican Party? Nothing, is what. Party over country, country over the law.

Regardless, the media meme has been set: The Media is liberal, biased for Obama; thus, in order to preserve "objectivity" and "fairness", the media will scrutinize everything Obama does, and give McSame a pass on almost everything he does. And oh yeah -- run his TV commericals for him, for free.
