Here's my pitch, Hollywood: A group of smart, sexy young NASA scientists drive around the country in their souped up, high tech yet super hip retro van, solving mysteries. There could be a wise cracking robot involved. Big ratings!
Since this is a fictional NASA, you could bust out all kinds of cool technology for different episodes - like super silver giant balloon.
Or a robotic snow tank for the Christmas episode.
Just for example! Shit writes itself, really.

Oh no! In the last pic, is that the nouveau freaking Venus probe!? Shit scared me silly back in the '70s!
Hm. Think I'll paint my lawn mower like that.
That looks like a Dr. Who prop!
No, the last picture is a new rover prototype, intended both for use in Antarctica, and on Mars.
Dang. That's a lot more monster truck than Curiosity. I dub it Ferocity!
And you're close--the Venus Probe hails from the 6-Million Dollar Man. In its second appearance, Steve Austin teams up with Bigfoot, who later got his own show. True tale of the '70s.

The RV makes me think of the one from Stripes, the fact that is would be scientist from NASA in the middle of this stupid Government Shutdown could make things more interesting. I'm thinking Misfits of Science + Stripes + Breaking Bad and they drive around Red States kicking Tea Party Republicans in the Taint.
I will subscribe to all seasons of this hot show.
Yeah, that's awesome. BCS, you get Executive Producer role.
Its kinda funny, though - I just watched a night of crime shows on TV for the first time in years, and noted the many sci-fi aspects and nerd/science characters. Bones, I believe, is an actual scientist, right?
So, science seems cool on all these shows, which does not seem to gibe with the redneck gestalt.
