Like Son

Only in Europe! Cowboy Reagan riding a cruise missile. Totally not phallic, but rather emblematic of the "freedom by gun" principle America is so famous for. St. Ronaldus Magnus of course the hero of all time for banishing evil forever, defeating the USSR, destroying the Unions, and liberating the COMMUNIST occupied country of Grenada. Also, Star Wars, in the not cool sense. He was the harbinger of the bellicose, ignorant American sitting astride the world, LOL'ing while bombing.
You see, before Ronnie, all Americans of power at least tried to act intelligent and civilized, even if they were faking it. But Ronnie was dumb and proud, a common sense man from a ranch where he tilled the Earth and whispered to horses and didn't have time for your elite, liberal chatter. Like you and me! This plays well to the mob, and tied with several historical trends and a deliberate manipulation of American society via propaganda, we have the America of today. Violent has hell, with more people in jail percentage wise than anyone on Earth, enthralled to a dumb party of religious bigots who don't even understand in the least the religion they try and shove down your throats. An obese society led by morans. And in this society the GUN is holy and sacred, a totem of your freedom and power, the means to overthrow tyrants and zombies, should they arise.
Due to incredibly successful propaganda from, in large part, the NRA, guns are the thing you must own (if you're white. If any other color, sorry, no) if you are a Real American. And not just one, but dozens. And even though your odds of dying by gun go way up as soon as you have one in your house, instead you think this gun will protect you from all your fears. Your many, many fears - black men, communists, anarchists, feminists, jack booted government thugs, on and on, the fears are legion. And so a gun for each. Don't forget the kids, either.
Just playing war, you might say. Sure. And kids played war in the past, or cops and robbers, or cowboys and indians, and this is true. All these games are basically the same. I ask you though, how long have American children been playing these games? Since the 50's? Earlier? If so, when? I think post WW2 is roughly the time these games became popular with children, helped in part by toys marketed towards these games - cap guns, army men, tanks and battleships. Other than the urban crime generated by prohibition in the 20's, America has never seen crime and violence like in the 60's and 70's. Co-incidence? Maybe.
Just another "kid" playing army man. A far more intense, immersive version, almost real in some degrees. I know this will not be popular with my audience, but violent video games have an affect. Playing with guns has an affect. Being soaked in violence on TV, movies, and in music has an affect. Culture has an affect. Politics has an affect. And most everything about America in the last 30 years - maybe forever - has been violent and cruel. We're a death culture, and that has an affect in the people raised within that culture.
Everything we do, say, and think has an affect. Especially on our children, who learn by watching us, of course. When we teach these kids to be Wingnuts, then aye, we shall reap the Wingnut Whirlwind. Which is death, violence, discrimination, and wanton cruelty.

Accept this and cede, hide out of the way, hope the next shooting won't involve you or your loved ones. Or fight it.

Now's the time for fighting, by the way.

Tagg, you're it

That's Tagg Romney on the lower left, who said after the second debate (in regards the paraphrased question "how did you like your Dad getting his ass kicked?"):
Jump out of your seat and you want to rush down to the debate stage and take a swing at him.
The picture is after the 3rd debate, in which Barack Obama also kicked Mitt Romney's ass.

Can you guess the whisper? I bet it's conciliatory. Obama is a far better man than you or I. He's remarkable, amazing. Michelle also too, though not so conciliatory. Look at that smirk!

And then there's the Romneys to the right. Smug as fuck.

That this election appears to have tightened mightily solely over the first debate (Which I thought Romney did win but Obama did fine) is totally unexplainable to me. How? Why? WTF? And so all the polls are now tightened, and worry spreads across the reality based community.

But don't worry. GOTV. Make calls. Give money. Vote. Do something - together we are far more powerful than rich pricks like Romney, et al.

Go Obama!
Vote Obama, and all Democrats. Or, in other words, never vote Republican.

Seals out of place

Seal's like, "WTF?!" Kinda sad but also uplifting story of a zoo that flooded this Summer in Minnesota. Read about it here. This seal was found a couple of blocks away from the zoo. How messed up is that, for the seal? Going from a water world to the cold hard, wet streets? Damn. Be advised, freak events like this (10+ inches of rain in short order) will become more and more common as our world climate gets ever warmer. But hey! It's sunny today! Why worry about LIBERAL LIES?
Republican crasher seal sayz "DRILL HERE, DRILL NOW!"

Let us give thanks

C'mon on in! Water's fine! Don't mind Brutus here, he's an old family friend and sweeter than hell! Grab some more beers first though, wontya?

Seriously. It's an awesome story. Here.

For reals. Brutus often eats at the table, and most definitely does for big events. Best let him have the wishbone though. No pulling.

Dogtona - No Limes

The first ever running of the Dogtona 500. Unfortunately, due to the overwhelming superiority of the dog racers, this was the first and the last running of this inspired sporting tilt. For shame, humans! If you can't win, you quit. Pshaw!

Also too - here's the victor celebrating with what he thinks is an apple...
WTF?! My contract clearly said "NO LIMES"!

Home is what you make it

In this case, a giant rice farmer. Awesome, right? Also not for sale.

If I did buy this place though, somehow (lottery?), I'd install flame throwers from the guy's mouth, raining down upon the driveway. Now that's home defense! It's our Constitutional Right, after all. As Korean rice farmers.

My Daily Bread

Presented for your dining pleasure: Bread, in dead human form:

Tis a real thing, as far as artsy fartsy breads go. Bread made to look like cut up body parts - is not this world wonderful in its endless variety?
 Yum! Facetastic!

Duck Hemisphere

Your eyes don't lie, right? It's a duck, or some sort of water fowl. I never knew - never even dreamed, really - we could all be but lice on a duck's feathers. But hey, if it's turtles all the way down, why not duck continents too, and we but bugs crawling on its surface? Or some such.

Confused Friends (Forever)

It was a lopsided relationship. Rex had all the brains, and plenty of wiles, but Chilly had 600 or so extra pounds. Despite best intentions, as they say. Wait, do they say that? Anyways, Rex became dinner one day, but really, was it a surprise? The whole pack warned him, but did he ever listen? Nooooo! Alpha Male and all that. Ha! Alpha Alpo more like it.

Also too:
Speaking of Alpha Males, Lions are the best of all respective dudes. Big ass golden beards, man - who among us wouldn't want that? Lay around all day, have sex with different lionesses (as many as possible, thanks), wait for the chicks to kill something than saunter in and get the pick of the fresh carcass. Maybe eat some other dude's kids once in a while. Sweet living, right? Human males, by contrast, have to work and work and "provide" and stay monogamous (mostly), along with the typical fighting and displays of Alphaness, or lack thereof. And there's a distinct lack of baby eating.

S'not fair, amirite?

Peek-a-WHA?

Could be a girl. Could be a boy. Could be something in between. Gender is fluid in many regards, but no matter what: Everyone needs some love. Right?

Nerd Quandry

This pic has puzzled many of the greatest Trek nerds on the Web. What, exactly, is going on here? We have a prototypical young nerd in the center - untouched by any other, I must point out - surrounded by 4 extremely attractive yet equally nerdy women. How did this happen? How is it possible?!

The best answer the Collective came up with is the boy is the brother of the girl on the left, and the rest are her friends, who, for whatever wacky reason, have decided to go all anime. Maybe?

High Art

I don't know where this came from, or even how to explain it, other than I assume it's from the 1970's, and then everything makes sense. Enjoy!

Springtime for a Predator

Yeah, it's disturbing. But! Predators must fall in love too, so, get over your human biases! Dayum!

Also, I've been on a kick of watching bad 80's movies lately - the kind that are so "80's" bad they've magically become good. Like Gymkata, just for example. Hypothesis: Every 80's movie features a montage of some sorts. Prove me wrong!

Anyways, I caught the first half of Predator last night, and it's never been terrible, but still: The 80's factor is awesome! The handshake scene between Arnold and Carl Weathers is so 80's you could make it a "Wish you were here" postcard from 1987.
 Now that's 80's!

So, as you head into the worst weekend of the year (Daylight savings ends, perpetual darkness begins) and you're looking for something to do, give bad 80's movies a try.  Redshirt recommended! If you're unsure where to begin, I'd recommend "Commando".

True Monsters

The monsters are indeed loosed, and we'll all be paying for their freedom soon enough, I suspect. But! This is an actual cover from Sesame Street magazine, back in the day. Harmless at the time of course, but since 9/11 changed everything.....

Also, I heard some such that the COOKIE MONSTER is now eating apples on the Street? WTF? Do they call him the APPLE MONSTER now? C'mon! When the COOKIE MONSTER was eating so many delicious cookies in 70's, kids weren't fat; does anyone really think it's excessive cookie eating that has blown the American waist size to Hindenburg proportions?

Really. C'mon.

A Good Death

At least from someone's perspective.

Inappropriate Family Photos

I might be a prude, but in front of an open casket does not seem the best place for a fun family photo. But, the way things are changing these days, perhaps I'm simply behind the times.

INSERT SATANIC CHORAL MUSIC NOW

Little did anyone know that Susie had just taken out a large insurance policy....

I leave you with this

It's a troll party y'all!

But seriously, I have no idea what's going on.

Off on a small vacation. See ya on the other side.
